JOHNLEONARD is seeking an experienced and dedicated Accounting Manager to join our client’s inclusive team. This full-time accounting management role is based in Boston and comes with a generous salary of $85K and some excellent company benefits.
As a skilled Accounting Manager, you will accommodate tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including assisting the Director of Accounting with general ledger (GL) maintenance, monthly closes, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and year-end audit preparation. You will also supervise a staff of two and ensure work is distributed correctly and completed accurately and on time.
In your first few weeks in this Accounting Manager role, you can expect to:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s general ledger account structure and financial reporting
- Interact with bureaus and administration to address issues affecting monthly, quarterly, or year-end closes
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger chart of accounts and verify the accuracy of account balances
- Oversee, prepare, and input standard monthly journal entries, cost transfers, budget amendments, and project setups
To apply for this accounting management job, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. An MBA, Master’s Degree, or CPA would be a plus. You will also require Boston residency and at least 3 years of solid general ledger and financial reporting experience. In addition, you should have advanced knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, state regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferably Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) based. General Ledger Software experience is required, and proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains would be a plus.
