Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000 | Bonus Eligible

About the Role

Our client, a leading Boston-based boutique law firm, is seeking an experienced Community Development Attorney to join its growing real estate and transactional practice. This newly created role reflects the firm’s expanding client base and ongoing commitment to nonprofit and public interest organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the Massachusetts Bar, or eligibility to waive in
- 3-7 years of legal experience in commercial real estate and transactional work, with a focus on nonprofit community development preferred
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex transactions from negotiation to closing
- Strong communication, drafting, and organizational skills
- A commitment to public interest, economic justice, or community-focused legal work is a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing
- Represent both borrowers and lenders in real estate financing and community development projects
- Draft, negotiate, and review legal agreements, including loan documents, joint venture agreements, and purchase and sale agreements
- Structure real estate joint ventures, equity deals, and corporate restructurings
- Provide counsel on nonprofit real estate development, affordable housing, and community-based projects
- Work cross-functionally with colleagues in tax, corporate, and regulatory practices to deliver holistic legal solutions
