Position Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join its Construction and Design Professionals Practice Group in New York City. This attorney will play an active role in managing litigation matters from inception through trial, focusing on the representation of architects, engineers, and design professionals in complex disputes.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling cases independently while collaborating within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in New York
- 3+ years of experience in construction litigation and/or design professional defense
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience with written discovery and motion practice
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration across teams
- Highly organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
Key Responsibilities
- Handle construction and design professional litigation matters from inception through trial
- Manage written discovery, prepare pleadings, and draft and argue motions
- Work directly with clients and insurance professionals, ensuring open communication and strong relationships
- Assist in preparing witnesses for depositions and trial
- Identify, retain, and collaborate with expert witnesses to support case strategies
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other legal documents
- Evaluate liability and damages, and participate in settlement negotiations and mediations
- Support partners and clients with trial preparation and case management
- Maintain accurate and timely billing records
