Our client, a leader in the legal industry, is seeking a Manager of Professional Development to design, manage, and deliver high-impact legal training programs that support attorney growth and engagement. This hybrid role is ideal for a collaborative, innovative, and strategic professional passionate about professional development, legal education, and career advancement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required. JD or advanced degree in a relative field is highly preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in professional development, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-service environment, prioritize multiple projects, and adapt to shifting needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, collaborative mindset, and commitment to professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design, planning, and execution of attorney training programs, including curriculum development, content coordination, and logistics.
  • Facilitate the firm’s annual Transitions Training retreats for associates, integrating core competencies and forward-thinking content.
  • Partner with practice managers to deliver interactive, practice-specific training sessions such as mock trials, depositions, and transactions.
  • Research and identify new content, providers, and programming through industry relationships, conferences, and webinars.
  • Support lateral integration training, cohort-based learning, and career development initiatives.
  • Oversee CLE operations including accreditation, credit issuance, and compliance.
  • Leverage the firm’s Learning Management System (LMS) and other technology to enhance learning delivery and user experience.
  • Manage vendor relationships, onboarding, and troubleshooting related to CLE and learning technology.
  • Maintain and update content on Professional Development intranet pages and LMS.
  • Monitor trends in legal education and recommend program enhancements.
  • Coach and mentor Professional Development Coordinators to foster team growth and performance.
  • Collaborate with administrative departments to align professional development efforts with talent retention and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Travel to firm offices to support programming, assess training needs, and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
