About the Opportunity

An international law firm is seeking a highly strategic and detail-oriented Practice Manager to oversee daily operations, staffing, and professional development within a dynamic Intellectual Property Department and IP Litigation Practice Group.

This role sits at the intersection of legal operations, talent management, and business strategy, offering a unique opportunity to drive efficiency, collaboration, and growth across multiple offices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, professional services, or law firm management
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Strong expertise in project management, staffing coordination, and legal administration
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion

Responsibilities

  • Lead work allocation and staffing for attorneys, associates, and counsel across offices
  • Align assignments with professional development goals and experience levels
  • Manage billable and pro bono work distribution
  • Coordinate performance evaluations, onboarding, and training initiatives
  • Partner with leadership on talent development and succession planning
  • Support execution of practice group strategic plans
  • Prepare and analyze productivity reports and operational metrics
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with legal, HR, and administrative teams
  • Lead and support department-level projects and initiatives
  • Provide high-level legal operations support to department leadership
  • Coordinate meetings, retreats, and internal initiatives
  • Ensure seamless day-to-day practice management operations
  • Support legal marketing efforts, including RFPs, pitches, and events
  • Assist with client engagement initiatives and CLE programming
  • Collaborate on lateral integration and growth strategies
  • Oversee Technology Specialist and Paralegal teams
  • Drive performance management, coaching, and professional development
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation and cross-office collaboration
  • Address workflow optimization and process improvements
