About the Opportunity
A top national law firm is seeking an experienced Temporary Real Estate Legal Specialist to support its Commercial Real Estate practice. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of transactional experience in a commercial real estate practice, with strong expertise in title, survey, and zoning review.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years of transactional experience supporting commercial real estate matters, preferably within a large or mid-sized law firm
- Strong experience with title, survey, and zoning review required
- Knowledge of ALTA/NSPS standards, title insurance, and title clearance processes
- Experience supporting commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development, joint ventures, or ground leases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, clients, and other professionals
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with legal technology and document management platforms; experience with tools such as Harvey AI, Microsoft Copilot, iManage Closing Folders, or Orbital CoPilot is a plus
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when needed to meet transaction deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive title and survey reviews for commercial real estate transactions, including title insurance commitments and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
- Prepare title and survey summaries, document abstracts, and other due diligence materials for attorneys and clients
- Coordinate and negotiate due diligence materials with title companies, surveyors, and zoning providers
- Draft title objection letters, title response letters, conveyance documents, estoppel certificates, subordination agreements, releases, memoranda, notices, and other title clearance documents
- Coordinate title clearance and manage related transaction deadlines
- Prepare and review commercial real estate leases and amendments
- Advise attorneys and clients regarding title insurance standards, survey standards, and title curative matters
- Support commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, loan transactions, joint ventures, ground leases, and development transactions
- Coordinate execution and recording of real estate documents
- Maintain closing binders, post-closing records, and outstanding title clearance items
- Use legal technology and AI platforms to support document review, due diligence, transaction management, workflow efficiency, and knowledge sharing
- Accurately enter billable time and detailed narratives in accordance with firm policies
- Support additional Real Estate Section projects and responsibilities as needed
