Required Qualifications 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 4+ years of legal or compliance experience, including at least 3 years practicing law.
  • Familiarity with or exposure to legal conflict resolution and ethics in law practice.
  • Strong command of the rules of professional conduct for attorneys and ability to assess and resolve potential conflicts of interest.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Impeccable ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Conflicts team to resolve legal conflicts, draft conflict waivers, and erect ethical walls when necessary.
  • Conduct high-level conflict analysis, corporate separateness research, and review engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines.
  • Draft engagement letters and coordinate with internal departments for comprehensive guideline review and negotiation.
  • Perform due diligence on potential clients, flagging any risk areas and escalating as appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource for attorneys and staff on ethics and compliance issues, including reviewing firm contracts and advising on risk.
  • Support lateral hiring processes by analyzing potential conflicts and providing recommendations on viability and risk factors.
  • Help develop and implement risk management protocols in collaboration with the Director.
  • Provide indirect guidance to junior conflicts staff; manage departmental coverage during leadership absences.
  • Lead or contribute to special legal projects and ensure accurate handling of client file transfers and matter closures.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience using legal software such as Intapp, Aderant, Microsoft Office Suite, Kofax/Adobe Acrobat, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in online legal research tools (Lexis, Westlaw, Capital IQ, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and eagerness to collaborate across departments.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and highly detail-oriented with a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments under deadlines and operate independently while contributing to team success.

  • Hybrid role based in Boston (in-office presence 2–3 days/week).
  • Utilize legal research and case management tools with technical proficiency.
  • Maintain an organized workflow while balancing time-sensitive priorities.
  • Engage positively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
