Location: Boston, MA | Hybrid – 2 remote days/week
Salary Range: $85K-$90K
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5 | Non-exempt
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of commercial finance experience, preferably in a law firm environment

About the Opportunity

A well-established Boston law firm is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Transaction Paralegal to join its busy Commercial Transaction Group. This role will support attorneys across a broad range of commercial finance and real estate transactions, including commercial lending, real estate mortgage financing, commercial and industrial loans, asset-based lending, alternative energy transactions, loan recovery, troubled loan workouts, and foreclosures. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent college degree required
  • Paralegal Certificate or additional paralegal education preferred
  • 4+ years of commercial finance experience, preferably in a law firm environment
  • Experience supporting commercial transactions, commercial lending, real estate finance, or loan closings strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe/PDF software, and Outlook
  • Experience using legal, USPTO, government, and electronic filing systems
  • Strong proofreading and writing skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, vendors, and outside counsel
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills, take initiative, and recommend process improvements
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent client service

Key Job Functions

  • Support attorneys through all stages of commercial finance transactions, from initial preparation through closing and post-closing
  • Prepare and organize transaction documents, closing agendas, settlement statements, ancillary loan documents, and corporate documents
  • Conduct and coordinate due diligence, including title, UCC, tax lien, litigation, and corporate entity searches
  • Review and analyze due diligence materials to identify issues and confirm compliance with lender closing requirements
  • Review title exams, commitments, and policies for commercial real estate transactions and summarize findings for attorney review
  • Research recorded documents through Registry of Deeds and Land Court websites
  • Request and review UCC, tax lien, litigation, and other searches
  • Prepare and file UCC financing statements in appropriate jurisdictions
  • Assist with commercial loan closings and post-closing due diligence
  • Track closing agenda items, coordinate outstanding requirements, and help ensure transactions remain on schedule
  • Prepare and organize closing binders and electronic deal files
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, outside counsel, and other transaction parties by phone and email
  • Research corporate entity status across various jurisdictions
  • Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
