Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5 | Exempt
Required: 10+ years of paralegal experience, with substantial experience in family law

About the Opportunity

A boutique family law firm serving clients throughout Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to take ownership of substantive paralegal work across an active caseload. This newly created position will work directly with four attorneys and play a central role in keeping matters organized, deadlines on track, and clients informed. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • 10+ years of paralegal experience, with substantial experience in family law
  • Demonstrated expertise with Financial Statements and Rule 410 mandatory disclosure requirements
  • Hands-on experience drafting and responding to discovery in contested matrimonial matters
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume calendars and deadlines for multiple attorneys
  • Strong ability to review, organize, and identify discrepancies in complex financial documentation
  • Experience working directly with clients, including the ability to handle sensitive and emotionally challenging conversations professionally
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with case management software, e-filing systems, Microsoft Office, and MyCase
  • Ability to take ownership of responsibilities, prioritize effectively, and work independently

Key Job Functions

  • Manage an active family law caseload from intake through judgment, tracking case progress, deadlines, benchmarks, and court requirements
  • Maintain calendars and deadline systems for four attorneys, including court dates, discovery deadlines, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
  • Draft and revise Financial Statements, supporting schedules, affidavits, pleadings, motions, separation agreements, and correspondence for attorney review
  • Manage Rule 410 mandatory disclosures, including gathering, organizing, indexing, and tracking required financial documentation and opposing counsel compliance
  • Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
  • Review and organize financial records, including tax returns, bank statements, investment records, retirement accounts, business records, and loan documents, identifying missing or inconsistent information
  • Prepare exhibits, chronologies, asset and liability schedules, deposition binders, and hearing materials for mediations, conferences, and trial
  • Handle e-filing, court filings, subpoenas, records requests, and maintain accurate electronic and physical case files
  • Communicate directly with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties, providing proactive case updates and coordinating schedules
  • Monitor case status, identify potential issues or missed deadlines, and proactively communicate concerns to attorneys
  • Support attorneys with additional legal research, case preparation, and administrative tasks as needed
