About the Opportunity

A large national law firm is seeking a detail-driven Litigation Docketing Specialist to support its litigation operations and risk management functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate court calendaring, deadline tracking, and compliance with procedural rules across multiple jurisdictions.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred (equivalent experience considered)
  • 5+ years of experience in litigation docketing within a law firm or legal department
  • Expertise in rules-based docketing systems (e.g., Milana, CompuLaw, CourtAlert, e-Dockets)
  • Strong knowledge of court rules, procedural deadlines, and case management
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in deadline management
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment
  • High level of organization, time management, and accountability
  • Professional, service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Key Job Functions

  • Monitor docketing inboxes and manage incoming docketing requests
  • Review legal documents and calculate critical litigation deadlines using rules-based docketing software
  • Maintain and update litigation calendars to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Research and verify deadlines to supplement automated calculations
  • Generate and distribute docket reports and customized case updates
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local court rules and civil procedure
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to manage case timelines and scheduling
  • Provide guidance on docketing policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure quality control and accuracy across all docket entries
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives
