Location: Boston, MA | Hybrid 
Salary Range: $125K-$155K 
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5 
Required: Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years of relevant tax or accounting experience, and a CPA designation or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential

About the Opportunity

Join a private wealth management firm as a Tax Manager, providing comprehensive tax planning, tax compliance, and advisory services to the firm and its clients. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex individual, fiduciary, partnership, corporate, and private foundation tax returns, advising clients on tax matters, and supporting income tax and estate planning initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6+ years of relevant tax or accounting experience
  • CPA designation or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required
  • Strong understanding of portfolio accounting, investment processes, and corporate taxation
  • Experience providing tax services to high-net-worth individuals and families preferred
  • Experience in a financial services firm, wealth management environment, or public accounting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance and tax planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
  • High level of attention to detail and sound professional judgment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new tax and financial technology systems

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in income tax planning and estate planning processes with investment managers, clients, and attorneys
  • Prepare and review individual and fiduciary tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1041, and 709
  • Prepare and review business and nonprofit tax returns, including Forms 990, 1065, and 1120
  • Provide tax advisory services and respond to tax-related questions from clients and internal teams
  • Communicate with federal and state tax authorities to resolve notices and other tax matters
  • Prepare tax projections and estimated tax liability calculations
  • Review estimated tax payments and related declarations
  • Coordinate with Operations to facilitate timely tax payments
  • Collaborate with multiple departments and levels of management on tax-related matters
  • Assist with tax department policies, procedures, and special projects
  • Work effectively with external software and system vendors as needed
