About the Opportunity
A national litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its Boston office. This position offers the opportunity to take on substantive responsibility while working alongside experienced trial attorneys on sophisticated civil litigation matters from case inception through trial.
The firm handles complex matters involving toxic tort, product liability, general liability, commercial litigation, and other civil litigation. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of litigation support responsibilities in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment. Asbestos litigation experience is a plus.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience
- Experience in civil litigation and/or general liability defense litigation preferred
- Experience with asbestos litigation, toxic tort, product liability, or complex litigation is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Experience with Westlaw, PACER, and/or File & Serve Xpress preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize competing deadlines, and work effectively in a high-volume litigation environment
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities while contributing to a collaborative legal team
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and professional judgment
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously
- Play a substantive role in case management, litigation strategy, discovery, and trial preparation
- Assist with all aspects of trial preparation and courtroom support, including trial logistics
- Monitor case filings and provide detailed assessments to attorneys
- Draft and assist with pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, motions in limine, and other pleadings
- Review, organize, and evaluate discovery documents, including medical, employment, sales, and other case records
- Prepare case assessments and evaluations for review by associates and partners
- Assist with client reporting, communication, expert retention, and case administration
- Maintain accurate and timely billable time records
- Attend trials and provide hands-on support to the trial team
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, legal administrative professionals, clients, experts, and other parties
