Job Overview

A large national law firm is hiring a strategic and hands-on Human Resources Manager to support and elevate their people operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive HR strategy, employee relations, and compliance initiatives across multiple offices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources management, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong expertise in California employment law and multi-state compliance
  • HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP)
  • Proven experience in employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (Dayforce experience a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels
  • High level of emotional intelligence and conflict resolution expertise
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Key Job Functions

  • Lead and execute human resources operations, including talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws and internal policies
  • Manage leave of absence programs (FMLA, medical, parental, disability) and benefits administration
  • Partner with leadership to provide HR guidance, coaching, and workforce planning support
  • Oversee and administer employee disciplinary processes and conflict resolution
  • Collaborate on firmwide HR initiatives, including compensation, diversity & inclusion, talent management, and change management
  • Conduct exit interviews and onboarding follow-ups to enhance employee experience and retention
  • Maintain accurate HR records, personnel files, and HRIS data
  • Support payroll coordination, including timekeeping and related inquiries
  • Develop and update job descriptions and HR policies
  • Partner cross-functionally with office leadership to ensure consistent HR practices
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement
